Star Wars Miniatures is a very popular collectible miniature game. And why not? The game is good - I have some rather serious board gamer friends who like it - and the miniatures are wicked cool, if you're into Star Wars. Many are.

The game was originally released in September 2004 and it is still in print. The game's produced by Wizards of the Coast, the company behind Magic: The Gathering and several other very popular and very good games, which is one explanation for the game's success.

There are plenty of miniatures in the many sets of the game, featuring characters from many different eras. Players can wage battles in the Old Republic, Rise of the Empire, the Galactic Civil War, New Republic or New Jedi Order eras - or mix and match the troops however they wish.

The miniatures come, of course, in different rarities. There are common, uncommon, rare and very rare miniatures, so plenty of collectibility. Fortunately there are plenty of miniatures available in eBay, so you can pretty much get whatever you want. Wikipedia has an excellent list of Star Wars miniatures available.
