New search feature

Check out the new search feature in the sidebar. The search digs through whatever is in eBay, so it will find you whatever you want, almost guaranteed. Try it out!

Nowadays the new updates should appear in the RSS feed automatically, so there's less need of "site updated" posts in this blog. Anyway, check out bone and bamboo mahjong sets and LCR Dice Game!

Classic Asian games: Go, Shogi, and Xiangqi

I promised new additions, and here they come: I've added three classic Asian board games to the site. First of all there's Go, which is, frankly, the finest board game there is. No discussion about that. No other game can compare to it in timeless elegance.

I also added two Asian chess variants, Japanese Shogi and Chinese Xiangqi. Both are really interesting variations of chess and provide crucially different game experiences. Even if you hate chess, shogi and xiangqi just might be worth checking out.

Star Wars Miniatures added

Warhammer 40K, Fantasy Battle and Games Workshop

I've added more miniature games. I used to play Warhammer Fantasy Battle myself, I think I had some orcs going. It was more about the miniatures, though, and I don't think I actually played the game that much, probably less than ten matches, as the armies never realized themselves. I guess I started in an age when I didn't have enough money. I got some Tyranids, too, for Warhammer 40,000, but ended up donating them to my brother who was more interested in both games. He was a better painter, too.

To complement these two games, I also added a publisher page for Games Workshop, the company behind them.

Vintage mahjong and Scrabble, Subway Scrabble

I added few more categories to the mix. There are plenty of vintage Scrabble sets around for very cheap prices, so if you want to add some 1940s or 1950s charm to your Scrabble games, the price is not a problem. Vintage mahjong sets are more expensive, but still, finding a nice old set for a moderate price is not difficult.

Subway restaurants are apparently running a Scrabble themed competition in the US. At least people are searching for Subway Scrabble tiles. Well, eBay is certainly most helpful with those as well.

War game publishers added, mahjong shopping tips

I added two war game publishers to the publisher list: GMT Games and SPI. Both seemed to be popular with the eBay buyers and have good selections of games available. SPI has certainly some collector interest with their Strategy & Tactics magazine. Each issue of the magazine includes a complete war game. I'm fairly sure there are plenty of people who collect those.

I also added some basic information on the mahjong page. There's a list of the three key points to keep in mind when shopping for mahjong sets. Basic stuff, but worth remembering!

Miniature games added

Miniature game listings were one thing I initially skipped in order to get this site up and running. I've now added the first miniature games in the auction categories. The first games in the fold are HeroClix and HorrorClix from WizKids. These are fun games, I've heard, and of course very much collectible - according to Wikipedia, there are approximately 3,000 different HeroClix figures. I was rather surprised by that number!

It took me a while, but the site is now up and running. Check out the auctions listed in the sidebar and follow this blog, since I'm going to add new stuff every now and then to make sure all the most interesting board games are covered.

Subscribing to the RSS feed is the best way to keep track of the new additions to this site. Also, if you find an interesting category, make sure you subscribe to the RSS feed of that category - that way you don't have to visit this site constantly, just keep on reading the RSS feed to stay updated.
